While not exactly Portal 3, there’s new aperture based excitement building around a new Bridge Constructor game based in the familiar, experimental lab setting that we all know and love. Expecting to release on December 20th to PC and Mac users, console and mobile gamers will unfortunately have to wait until 2018 to satisfy their Portal hunger. Officially licensing the property from Valve, the two companies behind the release, Headup Games and ClockStone Software has this to say in the official press release:
“We welcome all lucky applicants to Bridge Constructor Portal with our new vehicle-based test chambers, Quantum Tunnels and patented Aperture technology! For the last year we’ve been secretly working in our underground labs on the next iteration of the million-selling Bridge Constructor series. This new stand-alone title will release on PC, MacOS, Linux, mobile devices, and console, and fully embraces the Portal license, one of the most beloved video game franchises of the last decade.
“Bridge Constructor Portal will blend the laws of structural engineering and technology straight from Aperture Laboratories into an exciting new game experience, all under the demanding gaze of GLaDOS. If you’ve been paying attention the solution should be obvious. As the case may be… good luck!”
Whilst the future of new Valve releases and traditional Portal games is unclear, it’s refreshing to see new collaboration on such a popular series. Although some may question just how many bridges are actually needed when you have a portal gun…
